I loved every single word of the heat-related recap today - and really laughed out loud about the 1887 weather coverage. Thank you for putting everything in context, as always!

Where the hell is "Arizonia?" At least the Times gets our name right now.

And the best part of the heat is after spending any length of time in our overly chilled buildings, I instantly "thaw" outside. Of course, I still have to bring my personal shade structure since it's rather bright.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the legal opponents of the No Dark Money law desperately need the dark money for shade in summer?

Seriously? We get used to the heat??? You walk, bike, take public transit, work outdoors - you ain't getting used to the heat. It physically and mentally erodes you.

Sooooo glad I moved to Bisbee. County shenanigans aside, it is a fun place and rains almost every day. Vividly remember the primal screaming when Valley storms would fizzle out around A-J. Should somebody send the Center for Arizona Policy a case of OTC contraceptives? Just a thought.

Thanks for suggesting high country in So. AZ for respite from the heat. I will take a look at the daytime highs.

No one should receive death threats or have a conspiracy theory threaten him, but I can't work up any sympathy for Ray Epps. As Hunter S. Thompson said, "Buy the ticket, take the ride."

When people complain about the heat, my response is, at least you don’t have to shovel it.

Re: not cool to post about trips north? Ok then I guess you don't want to see my pictures of field flowers, butterflies, and cool mountain streams from my weekday hikes. OBTW, we have had to travel more than 2 hours (like 4 hours to the White Mountains) to find trails where it was cool enough to actually hike and not just stroll. Not whining, just saying that Prescott, Payson, or even Flagstaff are too hot to hike if you start hiking after 8AM.

A hard right shift under Trump? A shift for sure, and Donald Trump is many things, some of them decidedly negative, but one thing Trump is not is conservative or hard right. Trump is an opportunistic party of one: Donald Trump, which is why, when he was a NYC reals estate owner and developer he was an active Demcorat and supported a lot of D politicians. He may have captured the GOP at the precinct level, but 40 years of experience in Arizona has shown me that these folks rarely represent the mainstream of the GOP and that is no different today, except the shiny new object is Trump.
