As the article notes, issues of who should be invited to speak at a university should be left to the university community itself; having a contentious, sometimes raucous debate is a long tradition in academia. Government should stay out of it, and you'd think the "small government" proponents would want that. As it says in the U.S. Constitution's 1st amendment, "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech" , which should serve as a model for states as well.
This is all so predictable. The "conservative" Legislature doesn't want diversity in higher education...so, they are going to try and "gut" funding to ASU. Meanwhile, they approve $5 million bucks to study 'Shrooms. Universities provide a large, stationary target to throw things at, so, that's what they try and do about once a year. The GOP is failing at everything else...go after Johnny College. Don't trifle with my Party School...we can take away your beer.
I know Sheriff Lamb personally and the BS about attire needs to stop. The campaign is offering shirts, etc in return for certain monetary donations. It is a standard practice in campaigns and the Agenda let its readers down by this sloppy "journalism."
