One aspect of the upgrading or beautifying of the canals running through Phoenix that amuses me and also makes me skeptical about the project. The 1921 (yes over 100 years ago) general plan created by H. H. Bennett (from Chicago) for the city and approved, proposed exactly that! Much more greenscape though. For many years a framed rendition of the plan hung in the Planning Department offices. Guess no one really looks(ed) at it and wonders(ed) why it never came to fruition.
At least the situation in Cochise County is public, but it makes me wonder how many county elections officials, in Arizona and elsewhere, are flying under the radar as election skeptics who shouldn't be trusted to run elections under the law.
In recent history, Arizona has had people, without adequate schooling, pose as doctors and nurses and do business for a while before being caught (often by the media first). Lax regulations and no oversight put consumers at risk. Who built the homemade plane? Are homemade planes legal? Are they inspected for safety before they are allowed to fly? Do they have to be registered like cars?
1. It would be great if there was a mass effort to make the canals consistently free of trash, shopping carts, styrofoam cups, etc. My husband and I used to walk regularly along the canals near our neighborhood, and we tried to pick trash out of the water if it was near the edge, but it just got too depressing and disgusting.
2. Totally support light rail extension through my neigborhood for a) contributing to reducing greenhouse gases, b) more mass transit opportunity, and c) fewer lanes on Indian School might decrease the use of that street as a speedway.
Anne Carl will be running against Stevens for Cochise Co Recorder. She’s excellently qualified to run that department. Unfortunately, her election is in 2024, so Stevens will get his chance to monkeywrench AZ’s 2024 election regardless. 😤
Mesnard's actions seem ethically dubious, which I understand isn't going to stop most of the GOP from doing what they want. I wonder if he could have insisted that any donations come is as anonymous to at least try to avoid the perception of folks doing favors for him? If so, the donations would have likely been less, so that may help explain why it wasn't done this way.

Homemade plane? Didn't Mesnard sponsor the engineering bill that said anyone can "identify as an engineer" even without a degree?
Can I qualify as a brain surgeon without any credentials? Could be fun ...

Heard Hank on KJZZ, keep up the good work.
