"we need clarity, not political posturing, from our leaders." Your expectations are way too high.

Sorry I missed the party. Bet it was fun. Question. How do they conduct polls currently? I get emails, texts, calls all the time but they always want money after going through the questions. Who is legit and who is not? What is the standard practice?

Party was great! Hopefully we'll catch you at the next one. There are a lot of different legit methods of contacting people for polls, but idk any that ask you to pay them. I would be very suspect of any that are asking for cash -- that sounds like a bait and switch fundraising technique. Here's a decent basic explainer of things to know about polling. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/08/05/key-things-to-know-about-election-polling-in-the-united-states/

And it's imperfect, but 538s pollster rankings are still useful if you're trying to get a lay of the land on who is a halfway reputable pollster or not. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/pollster-ratings/

I also like this explainer from the Arizona Mirror from a few years back: https://www.azmirror.com/blog/polling-101-what-to-look-for-in-a-poll/

I'd bet money (lol) that the ones asking you for money are push polls from campaigns themselves. You can tell by the way they phrase the questions in highly charged/misleading ways.

Thanks for the shout out to Mike Rendon, the longest serving Senate staffer. He was a hard worker who always had a smile on his face. And he worked for 17 Senate Presidents. I thought my working for 10 Senate Presidents was impressive....not so much. RIP Mikey.
