The League got the most extreme parts of the bills killed, and worked with Kaiser to come up with a compromise that would have helped the problem and was didn't completely remove local control. It wasn't the complete answer, but it would have been a huge step in the right direction. That compromise bill was announced Friday June 9th. By the following Monday, enough Republicans from the far right declared they were against the bill that the bill died without reaching the floor. Kaiser announced his retirement two days later. The cities and towns were willing to compromise with Kaiser, but it was his own party that killed the compromise.

The ADU ordinances are useless as long as all-powerful HOAs can kill proposed ADUs without a second thought (or justification).
