Hey readers!
The days immediately preceding the election are a weird eye-of-the-storm moment in our political cycle.
Most voters have already cast their ballots. And most of those who haven’t voted yet are waiting until Tuesday.
So we’d like to use this moment of downtime to catch up with you.
We’ll be actively manning this little discussion thread from about 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., but we’ll check in periodically throughout the day for you late risers.
A few prompts to get the conversation started:
What unanswered questions do you have about the election?
We’ll do our best to answer, or we’ll get someone smarter than us to answer.
What was the toughest choice on your ballot, and how did you decide?
What issues or candidates are you most excited/worried about?
How are you feeling at this point?
Are you hopeful, anxious, or something else?
And what are your plans for election day?
Or just drop in to say hi!
Does anyone know if Kari Lake is hosting an election watch party? Or where should I spend election night? I still haven't decided what to do, but i generally enjoy the losers' parties more...
What am I doing on election day? I'm working at a voting center, where we have been opened since last Friday. That means I will be getting up at 4:30 a.m. to be at the center by 5:30 to get things ready. Polls open at 6 a.m. and for the next 13 hours I will be helping people get their ballots. After the poll closes at 7 and the last voter leaves (which could be late because it is a long ballot and if you are in line at 7 p.m., you still get to vote no matter how long it takes) I will spend the next couple of hours tearing down machines and packing things up. Here's hoping I will be home by 11 p.m. What am I doing on Wednesday? Not a damned thing! p.s. Please be kind to your election workers.
