Laguna Elementary, the school that wrote letters to Scottsdale Mayor Ortega expressing concern for homeless people and their pets sits in Joseph Chaplik’s LD3.
Interesting, huh?
The children appear to express compassion and concern for others. Meanwhile, Chaplik’s favourite hobby is taking and posting pics of people on the street to shame them. No wonder Chaplik doesn’t want these kind children to have an adequately funded and supported school. He doesn’t want them educated and able to afford Scottsdale where they will not vote for the likes of him.
Kolodin, Kavanagh and Chaplik, the chosen leaders of LD3, really don’t like it when a homeless person spoils the view of the Frank Lloyd Wright Target store. To date, the bills they’ve proposed this session (prohibit HOAs from banning the display of white supremacist flags, banning brass knuckles and wanting to be sure students can pick and choose how their student fee is used) don’t appear to address homelessness in any way. 🤔 It feels a little like the border- why solve the problem when your favourite hobby is complaining about it?
Thanks Hank, Nicole, and Curt for continuing to follow the U of A financial debacle. It seems to me to have the same old script as other public financial storms, including trying to hide the problem, trying to minimize the problem, and blaming the problem on someone else. Then on the other side of the issue are high level people that apologize but fail to seriously take responsibility. They want to cut programs, but not their inflated salaries plus in this case supposedly punish one person yet in reality keep her salary the same and just change her title. Oh and I don't want to forget that they hire an outside "expert" to recommend the cuts, which also protects the high level staff and salaries.
I could go on, but I am sure you are thoroughly aware of the REAL issues.
About money in politics: fundraising is not exactly an unmitigated good for campaigns, and particularly for candidates. While they need to have enough money for their campaign, every hour spent fundraising is an hour in which they aren't engaging rank and file voters (since they aren't calling the $5 donors). And while the totals tell us something, the number of donors is far more interesting since it implies a level of support in the candidate.
About outlawing Marxism in schools: Marx wrote different things for decades, from when he was a passionate young man to when he was a man in his 50s and 60s writing economic theory. But I think I know which of his beliefs Sen. Kern is most concerned with: as a young man, Marx strongly promoted the idea of public schools (along with a lot more radical notions, of course). I have the vague feeling that Sen. Kern might not care for those schools ...
Jake Hoffman is a seditionist fake elector crank who doesn't understand freedom of religion or even his own claimed religion. Here's what Jesus had to say about prayers in public (Matthew 6:5-8, NIV): "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."
Not a day goes by without glaring evidence that Arizona Republicans can't lead or govern. We have a golden opportunity to replace many of them in November. Like the old Nike ad said "Just do it".
The authors note that Kati Hobbs did nothing about dark money in politics. Did you know she is a major beneficiary of dark money? I suggest you dig into the ADLCC (Arizona Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee). It supports key AZ Democrats, including Kati Hobbs, who is also its co-founder. ADLCC funding sources are not transparent, although I suspect The States Project is one, which is another dark money group.
While digging into the ADLCC, you could also explore how it exerts power in AZ, especially how it provides conditional support to critical AZ Legislative and Congressional Districts (LDs and CDs). ADLCC funding is contingent on whether they comply with how the ADLCC says they should run their campaigns.

I wonder if Lake's pronouncement that we shouldn't send aid to foreign wars extends to Israel.
