Another cringe-worthy story from down here in Cochise County. David Stevens should choose his buddies with more care. Nearly $200K worth of paper...and nothing to use it for?
Example of history most don't want to know. Lee's Crossing. And Lee's Ferry. The official modern version of that story speaks to the brave and noble Lee family members who ran the ferry for decades.
The real history. Lee had to get out of Utah and into the wild and untamed Arizona territory frontier to avoid arrest by Federal Marshall's hunting him down.
His back story - leading the massacre of over 130 members of a wagon train from Missouri that was passing through southern Utah.
More to the back story. Because Lee had something between 19 and 29 wives, an enormous percentage of Arizona and Utah residents are related to him. The first Governor's wife. Senator Mike Lee. Senator Mitch Romney. The Udall family. Most of Northeasterm AZ. And me. All direct descendants.
Mountain Meadow Massacre is rarely mentioned at family reunions. And it's poor etiquette to bring it up in public.
Hank, I hope you will continue to follow HB 2759, a thinly shrouded attempt to silence the voices of pro-Palestinian student groups at our public universities. (Sound familiar? Columbia U aint got nothin on us!) The New McCarthyism is raging at the state house, mostly under the purview of the (not-very-representative) representative from LD 20 (whose district called for a ceasefire in November). Also, in case your readers--and everyone else--do not know, the Arizona Democratic Party ALSO called for a ceasefire at its Jan. 27th state committee meeting. Not widely reported in standard news sources (unless I am mistaken) and a completely secret event according to ADPs own website (and, again, if I'm not wrong, against the rules for what is supposed to happen to a passed resolution). Bottom line, it was a very interesting procedure, involving 15 hours of negotiation between authors of a resolution assuring that Israel had a right to exist and authors of a Ceasefire Now resolution (including negotiations for a political solution, right to a Palestinian state, hostage return, etc.). State committee members voted overwhelmingly in favor--some 80% yes--of the Unity document that came out of those negotiations. It was a real example of democracy at work--but still a secret to many, even State Committee members who were unable to attend the (all) in-person meeting.
I assume that in the piece about Kari Lake, you mean that she has been endorsed by the Senate REPUBLICANS and not Democrats…
I was confusion!
Yes typo. Sorry! We lost our copy editor last month and I’m just a mess of typos. Looking for a new copy editor!
The State Library & Archives is one of my go-to places when researching obscure AZ History. And they have a good photograph collection too.

That's a lot of toilet paper?!
That disinformation that is song about by a Biden lacky hits the AZ Agenda. https://www.mediaite.com/tv/watch-bidens-new-disinformation-czar-sings-cringeworthy-mary-poppins-edition-about-misinformation/
???? That voice rings true.

At first I thought the Dems Supporting Krazi Lake blurb was a thing because she’ll be the easiest to beat.
