I, for one, didn't miss the "debates" at all and was glad that Hobbs refused to participate. I think they're a relic from a time when there were 3 or 4 TV stations and access to information was limited. Plus with the way campaigns and candidates are now, we were never going to get "professional, informative and thought-provoking debates" in the last election. All we would have seen was one of the candidates talking over the other, spewing a lot of baseless claims and political talking points. If you watched the "debate" between the GOP candidates for Governor on PBS, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
How can the interim head of Arizona PBS be a paid consultant for APS, Arizona Chamber and politicos? Bizarre.
Let’s be sure and separate this controversy from the superb journalistic efforts of Channel 8’s Ted Simons. Simons is the best debate moderator on Arizona television. He’s experienced, nonpartisan and fair. Clean Elections and Arizona voters benefit greatly from having Simons host the statewide office debates.
Kiss and make up. Sounds like a lot of egos involved in this issue. I never blamed Katie Hobbs for not wanting to debate Kari Lake but it was a bad look for her. Lake (like Trump) would have run over Hobbs and Katie telling Kari to just “shut up” would not have gone over as well as it did for Joe. It’s a difficult time with candidates spewing unchecked lies. Maybe, for now debates should be put on the shelf and individual questioning from a few media members should be the result.
Dying to see Parrish’s disclosure forms. When I was an academic I had to disclose my clients, what I was paid (in ranges) and what I did for the money. And I wasn’t running a high-power consulting firm.

Excellent reporting from Hank Stephenson.
