Small correction: when you say "The former fiancé of the Maricopa County Democratic Party's executive director" I think you mean "The fiancé of the Maricopa County Democratic Party's former executive director". As you say later in the paragraph, the E.D. stepped down.
As redistricted, LD17 has a mountain in the middle that physically splits the district ... to drive from one end to the other, you actually have to leave the district. It's ALMOST as if the Republican-leaning IRC tried to scoop up as many Republicans as possible in choosing the boundaries of this weirdly-shaped district around Democratic-leaning Tucson. Democrats will have the last laugh if they can get a win in the House and/or Senate here. And it is likely to be close.
I was surprised to hear there was a recording of the call available to be "leaked". Is it common that a conference call like this would be recorded, particularly when there were apparently lots of comments that weren't intended to be "on the record"?
I may be one of the 98k registered voters who haven’t shown US citizenship. Born in Whittier, Ca in 1952 I was a tweener. Vietnam war helped change the voting age when I first voted at 20 in Ca. My parents had my birth certificate when I registered in Flagstaff. I’m sure I just checked the box. That was 50+/- years ago. I laughed at the language in the conversation made them seem real and freaked out. Laurie Roberts of the Republic seemed to think Hobbs wanted to disenfranchise voters but the three agreed to send it to the court. Honestly, with all the shit that went down in 2020 I’m not sure I blame her for suggesting to throw those voters to the Fed only ballot. I guess I need to figure out if I’m on the list😂😂

It seems relevant to the story that Jeff Flake, appointed by Biden as our ambassador to Turkey, could be retained by Harris.
